I have not set out to provide a history of South Shields my home town, more a personal view through family photographs and photographs I have taken over the years. The earliest photographs are from the 1930s and the latest are from the mid 1995-96 period. Wherever possible I have added some  information, but for many of the pictures, the names, dates and places have disappeared through the mists of time.
